Frequently Asked Questions
Does this connect to my Google Analytics account? ▾
No. It's a simulator that runs in your browser and mirrors how GA4 matches a create-event rule. Nothing is sent to Google or stored. Once a rule passes here, enter the same values in Admin → Events → Create event.
Why does page_location need the full URL? ▾
GA4 stores the whole address in page_location: https://, the domain, the path and any query string. A rule like "page_location equals /thank-you" never matches, because the real value starts with https://. Use contains for paths.
Are GA4 rule matches case-sensitive? ▾
Yes, unless you pick an operator marked "ignore case". A rule for thank-you won't match /Thank-You. Try the Capital letters sample above to see it.
What makes a valid GA4 event name? ▾
Start with a letter, use only letters, numbers and underscores, and keep it to 40 characters. Names are case-sensitive, and the prefixes ga_, google_ and firebase_ are reserved. Prefer Google's recommended names like generate_lead or sign_up when they fit.
