Privacy Policy

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the software published by Makeinfo ("we", "us", or "our"). This includes our website, our Google Workspace add-ons, our Chrome extensions, our Atlassian Forge apps, our mobile companion apps, and the free tools published on this website (together, the "Software"). It explains what data each category of Software accesses, why, and how that data is handled.

Some products publish their own product-specific privacy policy with additional detail — for example, the exact Google OAuth scopes a Google Workspace add-on requests. Where a dedicated policy exists, it governs that product and this policy applies to everything it does not address. Dedicated policies currently exist for the Smart Email Verifier Add-on, TwilioBox, and GTM Playbooks for Jira.

2. Information We Collect, By Product Category

Website (makeinfo.co)

What it accesses: Standard analytics data (pages viewed, referrer, approximate location, device type) via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, plus anything you submit yourself through a contact or sign-up form (name, email address, message).
Why we need it: To understand how visitors use the site and to respond to inquiries.

Google Workspace Add-ons

What they access: Depending on the add-on, your Google account email address, the cells you explicitly select in the active spreadsheet, and the ability to display a sidebar and make outbound HTTPS requests to our verification or import services.
Why we need it: To identify your session, process the data you select, and return results to your spreadsheet.
Important: Add-ons only process cells you explicitly select or import you explicitly trigger. They do not read, store, or transmit any other spreadsheet content.

Chrome Extensions

What they access: Varies by extension. Some (like Deadline Badge) request no host permissions and run entirely on your device, with nothing transmitted anywhere. Others (like Smart Email Verifier and Gmail Table Inserter) run locally in your browser and, where relevant, use an API key you provide yourself. Email Tracker for Gmail uses a one-time Google OAuth sign-in and records only whether and when a tracking pixel was requested for an email you sent — never subject lines, body content, or recipient identity.
Why we need it: To power the feature the extension provides, using the minimum permissions that feature requires.

Mobile Companion Apps

What they access: The same Google account you use to sign in to the companion Chrome extension. A mobile companion app is a read-only viewer for data already generated by its extension — it has no independent tracking capability of its own.
Why we need it: To display your existing data (for example, read-receipt history) on your phone.

Atlassian Forge Apps

What they access: Jira issue and project data relevant to the app's feature set, processed under Atlassian's Forge platform, which runs app logic and stores app data inside Atlassian's own infrastructure rather than on our servers.

Free Client-Side Tools

What they access: Nothing by default. Tools such as our LinkedIn-to-email finder and SEO utilities run in your browser or spreadsheet and, where a third-party lookup is required, use an API key you supply yourself. We do not sit in the middle of those requests.

3. How We Use Information

• To provide the specific feature a product exists for (verification, import, tracking, display).
• To identify your account or session for usage tracking and free-tier enforcement.
• To respond to inquiries submitted through the website.
• To improve the accuracy, reliability, and performance of our products.

We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Data We Do NOT Store

• We do not store the contents of your spreadsheets, documents, or Jira issues beyond what a specific feature requires to run.
• We do not retain the content of emails, messages, or lookups you process — only the minimal metadata needed to power the feature (for example, whether a tracking pixel loaded).
• We do not build advertising or resale profiles from any data our products access.

5. Third-Party Services

Depending on the product, our Software relies on the following categories of third-party services:

• Google APIs — Sheets, Apps Script, OAuth, and Gmail, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Atlassian Forge — the runtime and storage platform for our Jira apps, governed by Atlassian's Privacy Policy.
• Provider APIs you connect — such as Stripe, Twilio, or an email-verification provider, when a product requires you to bring your own account or API key. Those providers process data under their own privacy policies.
• Makeinfo backend services — our own infrastructure that performs verification, tracking, or import logic for the products that need a backend. Data is processed to deliver the result and is not retained beyond what Section 4 describes.
• Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager — for website traffic analytics.

6. Google Workspace API — AI/ML and Limited Use Compliance

The use and transfer of information received from Google Workspace APIs by any Makeinfo add-on will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• We do not use, transfer, or sell Workspace user data — raw, aggregated, or derived — to develop, improve, or train generalized or foundational AI/ML models.
• No Makeinfo add-on routes Workspace API data through a third-party AI/ML service, aggregator, or model hub as part of its own processing. We do not call any AI/ML API ourselves in any Workspace add-on.
• Some add-ons display static, pre-written prompt text that references only your spreadsheet's column headers — for example, StripeSync's "Advanced prompts to get insights" panel. These prompts never include your row data. They exist purely for your convenience, to optionally copy and paste yourself into an AI assistant of your own choosing (such as Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude) outside of our Software. Our Software never transmits your spreadsheet data to any AI/ML provider on your behalf.

7. Data Security

• All communication between our Software and external services uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• We limit data retention to what Section 4 describes for each product category.
• Access to backend services and infrastructure is restricted to authenticated, authorized personnel only.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your data.
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to certain types of processing.
• Withdrawal of consent — uninstall or disconnect a product at any time to revoke all permissions you granted it.

You can revoke a Google Workspace add-on's or extension's access at any time via your Google Account permissions page, and revoke an Atlassian app's access from your site's app management settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Software is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received such information, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Software after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
