Complete step-by-step guide to successfully submit your Google Workspace add-on to the marketplace. Follow this checklist to avoid common pitfalls and get approved faster.

Create a Product Page

App Homepage General Guidance

Your product page IS your app homepage for OAuth verification purposes. Google requires it to meet all of the following before it will approve your consent screen:

Accurately represents and identifies your app or brand (app name, icon, and developer/company name all visible on the page) Fully describes your app's functionality to users Explains with transparency the purpose for which your app requests user data

Hosted on a verified domain you own

Not a third-party platform where you can't verify ownership of the subdomain (Google Sites, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, etc.)

Includes a link to your privacy policy

This link must match the link configured on your OAuth consent screen exactly

Visible to users without requiring them to log in to your app

Functionality Explanation

Google requires an easily understandable explanation of what your add-on does. Thoroughly describe how your app enhances user functionality. Be accurate, inclusive, and easily accessible to all users.

User Data Disclaimer

Google is very concerned with user data. Explain how much you are gathering and what you intend to do with it. Use plain English like: "User data is only gathered as needed for the basic functionality of the add-on, in addition to usage data for analytics and quality assurance."

Privacy Policy

You must include a link to your privacy policy. If you need one, you can generate a free policy at getterms.io. The policy must clearly describe how your application accesses, uses, stores, or shares Google user data.

Terms of Service

Google requires that Terms of Service exist and are accessible from your product page. The content doesn't matter much as long as it exists.

Important Guidelines

Don't use the word "Google" on your page (use "Sheets" instead of "Google Sheets") Don't use special characters in your add-on's name (including apostrophes) Ensure OAuth consent screen image is also on your product page Make sure product page doesn't require login to view

You'll need different image sizes to submit your final application. Here are the required dimensions:

YouTube OAuth Video

Note: This is the most challenging part with minimal documentation. Follow these steps exactly to avoid rejection.

Remove your app's permissions from your Google Account

Visit: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions

Start screen recording of clicking your app and going through "Unverified" OAuth screen On "Choose Account" page, highlight the "client ID" in the URL bar for reviewer visibility After completing verification, briefly show your app's functionality (no narration needed) Upload video as unlisted on YouTube and save URL for OAuth application

The Application

This section takes place in the Google Cloud Platform Console. Create an account and new project if needed (free tier is sufficient).

OAuth Consent Screen

Search "Google Sheets API" in console and click "Enable" Update the Branding page (app name, logo, support email) Go to Credentials > Create Credentials > OAuth Client Id > OAuth Consent Screen

Submit YouTube video URL in specified field Submit and wait for OAuth approval (24 hours to 5 days typical response time)

Branding (Google Auth Platform)

In Google Cloud Console, go to Google Auth Platform > Branding. This page controls what users see on the OAuth consent screen — your app domain links and the authorized domain(s) tied to those links.

App domain — Application home page

Link to the product's home page, e.g. https://www.makeinfo.co/products/{product-slug}

App domain — Application privacy policy link

e.g. https://www.makeinfo.co/privacy/{product-slug} (or the general /privacy-policy page if the product has no dedicated one)

App domain — Application terms of service link

e.g. https://www.makeinfo.co/terms/{product-slug}

Authorized domains

Add makeinfo.co — every domain used on the consent screen or in an OAuth client's config must be pre-registered here. Verify in Google Search Console if the app needs verification.

App Configuration (Marketplace SDK)

Search "Google Workspace Marketplace SDK" in the console and enable it, then go to App Configuration. This controls who can install the add-on and which Apps Script deployment the listing points to.

App Visibility

Set to Public so the listing is discoverable in the Marketplace

Installation Settings

Enable both Individual and Admin install so end users and Workspace admins can both install it

App Integrations

Choose the matching app (e.g. Sheets) and point it at your Apps Script project's Script ID and the correct deployment version

OAuth Scopes

Add every scope your add-on requests — must match the OAuth consent screen exactly

Store Listing (Marketplace SDK)

On the same Marketplace SDK page, go to Store Listing and fill out the fields below.
